Tofu Croquettes and some ecstasic moments..!!!!!!

Yesterday was indeed a memorable day,not only for me,I guess for all Indians, especially Malayali's(as it was so unexpected unlike AR)..The beat of Indian music and Indian colors festooning the grand vista of Kodak theater, gave me goose-bumps all over and I got so emotional..Couldn't hold back ma tears, when Rasool pookkutty from our place,Kerala, took with trembling hands the ever-so-famous Oscar award.A R Rahman's performace tickled my insides, and me being the craziest fan of him, couldn't keep myslef still.Gosh..Double Oscar..What less could he be worth of..Genius..You rock magician..!!

The final moment when all the SDM team went on stage for the Best picture Oscar was also really moving. The joy in the faces of those small kids were so divine .I heard they are kids from real slum ,who are now given a chance to study n better life.Ain't it so wonderful?Truly they are one talented bunch n I really wish they go places..:)I was on live chat in Fox,n when Rasool Pookutty won, many shared the joy with me.The joy of his family was exhilarating(It was live on Asianet) ,and I am sure it'd have left any Malayali's eyes wet..:)

So finally, one more Oscars is over and the Red carpet might be still ringing with applause's and joyous moment roar's.I thought Penelope Cruz was looking stunning y'day.Even though some commented her dress was forgettable,I loved the intricate designs n works of that gown. Also Freida Pinto was looking gorgeous,in her fabulous blue gown.I seriously think she makes a good pair with Dev..;)

Let not the ecstasy shade my humble croquettes ..:P..I had some Tofu left in fridge for long, n so made these Tofu patties/croquettes 2 days back. That was when I accidentally noticed the Click-Cheese Event of Jugalbandi..Coincidence..!!Clicked a few snaps from different angles and flipped through them smugly..(My new cam is motivating me for some dares..duh!!.:P)I have always awed wide-eyed at the jaw-dropping pics that come in Click..So,I am not sure if the quality is fit for the event. So thought of posting this n see what u all have to tell about it.Are the pics good enough?Which one did u like amongst these four?

About the dish,as I said..nice crispy croquettes made out of Tofu..quite easy and nutritious..you can either bake it or fry it..Again either deep fry or shallow fry as I did..i dint got for baking, cos I was scared the Tofu might fall apart, also I like the fried taste better. To not let the goodness waste of by unwanted oil junks,I used Olive oil ,shallow fried and drained to kitchen towels. The first one did fall apart n while I was musing over the beauty of my patties in palms,it got bit charred, and in my desperate effort to flip it,I burned my finger and the whole thing got messed up..yeah..like meh n my typical once-in-a-while culinary tragedy.I was running short of tofu and had the lot only for two more patties,so took some care n thank God I could save it both before getting too ugly..:P

I have always affirmed my true love for Tofu n Soy products..Pure Vegan(as if I am one..lolol..:D) and power packed to the core.Blend of so much goodness.Only think I hate is the double-towel press to get some dry tofu, making my hands all smeared n tofu-dirty.yeah..thats for silken tofu .Even tho Silken tofu's are best for Desserts n sauces,I guess if properly dried it'd work well for patties also. But u'll need it real dry..Firm tofu crumbled is the best bet though..!!

To make some tasty patties, all you have to do is:
Press a Tofu bar in double paper towel for 20 mins to get it dry, then crumble it.
I fried it lightly in some olive oil and kept aside.
Now in the oil,I sauteed 1 tbsp of garlic ,4 green chillies sliced, n 1 cup of sliced Onions till they are wilted.
Pepped it up with some pepper powder and Garam Masala, added salt.
When the mix is cooled ,I added the crumbled Tofu and added some bread crumbs, little by little, just enough to make the patties firm and in shape.
You can even roll the shaped patties in bread crumbs before dropping in hot oil.
Now its easy to shallow fry them in some oil, provided you stay still there and see to what is happening in the pan.(They get charred easily..TC)

Guess,It will take a while, before I decide whether it should go for Click Cheese..Leme hear from you..;)..Please pick the best among the 4,if you liked it..:)

But am confident to send to Its a Vegan world event of Vaishali..wow..!!me for a Vegan event..pat ma back!!!earth is round indeed,huh..!!..:D

Also to A healthy bite event of Rachana..

..n to the Magnificient click contest of Gayathri..

Also, a very Happy Shivrathri to all of you out there..!!:)

Update Update ..I am sending the 3rd pic for Click Cheese event of Jugalbandi..:)
